Think about asexual Katniss.
Ace Katniss thinking that her lack of sexual urge is because she’s trying to survive.
Ace Katniss ignoring Peeta when they’re off-camera because she’s scared that he might think she’s interested in sex when she’s not. Ace Katniss learning that sex is about survival and power imbalances, and becoming more wary of it than ever.
Ace Katniss telling Peeta “I need you” and kissing him because the Capitol taught her that the way to show love is physical affection.
Ace Katniss never addressing Gale’s feelings for her because he kissed her, not for survival, but when no one was watching; and she didn’t hate it, how could she hate a part of Gale, but she didn’t understand why someone would do that voluntarily.
Ace Katniss following logic to its end instead of trying to “choose” between two love interests.
Ace Katniss thinking that the reason she doesn’t like kissing is because she’s only had to do it to survive. Ace Katniss realizing that she just doesn’t like kissing for its own sake.
Ace Katniss needing Peeta in her bed to be warm and solid and real, a protection against the unknown, and being glad he doesn’t try to ask for more in those moments. Ace Katniss realizing that she doesn’t need to “choose” between two boys because there’s nothing she wants from them except for their presences beside her, warm and real.
Ace Katniss thinking after everything is done that she will learn how to feel sexual urges, and thinking she’s broken when she doesn’t. Ace Katniss un-learning everything the Capitol taught her about how to show that she loves someone, and realizing that by her ace standards she loves a lot more people than she’d thought.
Can we just stop and talk about this for a minute?
Thresh doesn’t make an alliance. Thresh doesn’t waste time liking her. Thresh knows that either he must kill her or she must kill him for one of them to win.
But this is the only way he can repay her for protecting Rue when he couldn’t. It’s the only way he can repay her for honoring Rue when he couldn’t. He honors her by sparing her friend, the girl who would have died for her.
The revolution really doesn’t start with Katniss.
It starts with Rue.
SOMEBODY FINALLY SAID IT
